As a poor teacher, most of my make-up and beauty products are from high street (drugstore) brands. I do favour Urban Decay for eyeliner pencils after being gifted one for Christmas and absolutely fell in love, but apart from those, I think the majority of skincare and make-up I wear is under £20. So, I think I've found some great products that are just a fraction of the price and really hold their own!
1. L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara
At only £8.49 this L'Oréal mascara is one of the most popular dupes for the Dior Diorshow Mascara. It has the same tapered brush as the high end brand, which is said to help separate and elongate lashes. However, the Dior brush is considerably bigger than the L'Oréal. Saying that, the Voluminous mascara goes on much smoother.
2. Sleek Blush in Rose Gold
There are plenty of dupes for this best-selling NARS product, but the Sleek Rose Gold is undoubtedly one of the closest, and at only £4.49 is definitely one of the cheapest! Both have the same beautiful shimmery pink colour with gold flecks. Yet, although NARS is undoubtedly much more luxurious due to the finely milled powder, the shimmer in Sleek is slightly brighter,prettier pink whereas NARS leans more towards coral.
3. MUA 12 Shade Undressed Palette
This is such a great dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette! It contains highly pigmented 10 metallic shades and 2 matte ones. Almost every MUA colour matches up to one in the Urban Decay palette.
Now, I LOVE this Urban Decay palette and I will always buy this over any dupe, but the shimmery shades in the MUA palette are just as intense if you layer them well. However, the matte colours are a bit too powdery and come out very chalky.
4. No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter
Both No7 and Benefit Watts Up are highlighters that come as a wind-up stick and deliver a super cute dewy glow on your cheekbones. Both have such a creamy formula that glides on really nicely and dries quickly to a powdery finish. The only difference between the two is the colour. Watts Up has a more obvious golden tint while No7 has more of a champagne hue.
5. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
This is a really obvious dupe for YSL Touche Eclat as they practically look identical! Both contain light-reflecting particles which target dark under-eye circles. They are equally creamy and easy to dispense from the pen. The main downfall for this Maybelline dupe is that it only has 3 shade options where as YSL has 10!
6. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Again, a really obvious dupe for the Beautyblender! Both sponges are designed with a tapered end to give foundation a flawless finish once blended. The Real Technique's straight edge makes it super easy to blend around the eyes, but on the other hand the Beautyblender holds foundation much better without soaking up too much. They also feel quite different! Real Techniques feels like a conventional make-up sponge, whereas the Beautyblender has a firmer feel.
7. Sleek Brow Kit
Another dupe by Sleek! This one is for the Benefit Brow Zing which retails for £24.50. The packaging for these are EXACTLY the same, right down to the mini brushes and tweezer. The actual product is pretty indistinguishable in texture and the only difference is that Sleek offer this kit in 4 colour options but Benefit only offer 3.
